Human Resources
Resumes: OCR, Publishing, Indexing

Isa's Human Resources service product offers a cost-sensitive, efficient answer to manual handling of paper resumes. Our methodology combines the sophistication of electronic imaging with a creative indexing process, which relies on the applicant's participation to reduce costs and increase search pertinence.

Users of the service include corporate employers and placement agencies.

The process workflow covers the following steps:

Specialty Lines - Human Resources, Workflow

Capture: Resumes are received via fax or scanned, deskewed, cropped, enhanced, stored on optical media, OCR-ed, pre-verified and tagged.

Recognition: The OCR process converts all image text into standardized, computer readable fonts and styles. The resulting text files are invisible to the users, unless optionally requested by corporate clients or placement companies, or for Internet or electronic publishing. Its purpose is to enhance index and data extraction, and to provide full text search capabilities. The result of any search will be a high quality image of the scanned original resume.

Pre-verification is a coarse OCR cleanup, to conform to minimum quality standards. It eliminates the major imperfections created by the OCR recognition of odd fonts, colored backgrounds and styles. It also prepares the text for optional Internet or electronic publishing.

Tagging occurs after Pre-verification, and allows the use of the mouse to draw rectangles around name, address, academic background, and current employment, for the purposes of creating an automatic mailer of a predesigned qualification form. It is also used to update an internal applicant database. Different forms are used for various industries. Academic background indexes are filtered through electronic dictionaries pertinent to the applicant's industry.

Qualification: The predesigned qualification form is either processed by our staff at our plant facilities, or made available to the originating applicant, who may be provided with the text file and the required software to spell check the file, and create/validate/amend key indexes. Form dispatch options include: Fax, BBS, Internet, paper mail, and diskette mail. The predesigned qualification form, if in paper format, contains checkmark boxes and handprint recognition aware boxes. This simplifies the analytical data extraction process and allows for automated, accurate recognition of the returned, completed form. The apparent inconvenience of the additional step required to dispatch and receive the forms and files, is greatly offset by substantial cost reductions, pertinence and accuracy obtained.

Publishing: Returned forms and files are subject to QC, database update, key data post-indexing, full text preindexing, confidentiality filters, and final electronic or CD ROM publishing.

Distribution: Fully self-sufficient, retrievable CDs containing images, indexes, full text data and search/view/print/fax software are distributed to subscribed employers or other clients. The distribution complies to applicant-defined constraints.
