After digitizing about a billion images from paper of all sizes, thickness, shapes and colors, we learned from all the challenges involved in what we call “diversity scanning”. We use smart barcode separator sheets to identify valuable breaks such as staples and clips, and to split paper input into however many separate production lines as needed (regular paper size scanners, large format scanners, overhead scanners).

Diversity Scanning can be performed in Batch Mode or in Transactional Mode’ In Batch Mode all documents (folders) are piled up in batches, one pile for each separate production line. A process of physical reconciliation happens after batches are completed. In Transactional Mode (as illustrated above) folders remain intact and never split.
