Cesktop check scanners capture the back and front (duplex scanning) of each item, as well as the MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) line encoded in the item, thus providing safe, automatic indexing.
Additional indexing, if needed, may be performed by a combination of: OCR of selected typed zones on the item, Image assisted keyboard data entry, ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) of handwritten text, including CAR (Courtesy Amount Recognition).
Capturing checks, deposit slips, tickets, coupons, bills, or any other small size documents offers a myriad of advantages, opening the door to new competitive byproducts such as electronic statements with searchable and printable miniatures of each side of the item, immediate, on line access to check images for customer service and fraud prevention, and more.
